Something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember is to fly in a helicopter. Little did I know that my first flight would be… over the Grand Canyon! How cool is that?
About 4 years ago, I went to the West coast of the United States of America. During the road trip – let me know if you want our itinerary – we drove to the Canyons. Although Bryce Canyon was amazing as well, it was the Grand Canyon that blew me away. And yes, that’s mostly because I got to see it from up in the air.
Even though Bryce Canyon was amazing as well, it was the Grand Canyon that blew me away.
When we arrived at the Grand Canyon, we went straight to the park and visited some of the viewpoints. If you think that’s all there is to see, you are as wrong as you possibly can be. Besides maybe going into the canyon – for a ride down the Colorado River for example – you can’t grasp the full magnitude of the place until you’ve seen it from above.
It’s true that the price for such a flight is ridiculously expensive. On the other hand, it is totally worth it. It’s one of the most spectacular experiences I’ve had so far. I recommend it to everyone! The feeling in your stomach when you fly over the trees and then suddenly there no more trees, because you reach the point where the canyons appear and you feel like you’re gonna fall into the deep end – but you don’t (of course)… it’s like when you free-fall in a rollercoaster, it is awesome!
You can’t grasp the full magnitude of the place until you’ve seen it from above.
Have you ever flown in a helicopter? Tell me about it!
And if you haven’t, is it on your bucket list?
